Emma gave Mr and Mrs Smith a thumbs up...

Mr and Mrs Smith
Cast: Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Vince Vaughn, Adam Brody
Director: Doug Liman
Running time: 120 mins
Cetificate: 15

Jane and John Smith may have ordinary names but they are no ordinary couple. Their marriage is based on one big lie. Jane thinks John works in construction and John thinks Jane is an systems analyst when in actual fact they are both assassins. This goes belly up when each is hired to kill the other.

The film starts with the couple in marriage counselling and as the title sequence plays out we discover a lot about his couple. It seems that the assassinations will provide them with a way out of a loveless marriage but who will get there first?

Mr and Mrs Smith is funny, sexy and action-packed, appealing to both men and women. It's hard to believe that Nicole Kidman was originally selected to play Jane. Jolie and Pitt are perfectly cast as they look like they could pull off the stunts in real life and they play off well against each other.

This film has received a lot of publicity and for all of the wrong reasons. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt work well together and it remains to be seen whether this is just good chemistry or something more. However, we don't go to the cinema to watch a film because we think the female lead destroyed her co-star's marriage and we don't choose not to go because we think she is a homewrecker. We go because we want to be excited by the action, we want to be dazzled by the special effects and we want to be able to lose ourselves in a good story. Mr and Mrs Smith manages to tick all three boxes and doesn't fail to impress.

I really liked this movie.  It had good action and stayed pretty true to

Anthony gave Starsky and Hutch a thumbs up...

Starsky and Hutch is a hilarious film about two police detectives who are nothing alike, but are paired up by their police chief who is tired of both of them. Starsky is played by Ben Stiller and Hutch is played by Owen Wilson, the two of them have played in many previous movies together. Will Ferrell also does a great job as a guy in prison who will only give information to Starsky and Hutch if they help him out. Snoop Dogg is also a pretty good character in this film, Vince Vaughn is the bad guy in this movie and plays the part of an overly evil yet at times ordinary rich guy.

The movie starts off with Starsky and Hutch being put together as partners because of all the screwups they cause and dumb things that they do alone. The first thing that happens to them is they find a body floating in the water, it becomes the reason that they start their first case. The comedy starts off slow but picks up well as the movie progresses. Starsky and Hutch go and meet some cheerleaders who they believe would have some information for them that could be useful in discovering the answer to their case. They take the girls out a few nights later and thats where some of the best comedy in the movie starts rolling. The day after the girls are taken out by them there is a lot more humor when Starsky and Hutch invade the home of a man who was shooting at them earlier in the day. The movie keeps taking hilarious twists and turns and finally ends with Starsky and Hutch failing but Huggie Bear, played by Snoop Dogg, saving the day by knocking out the bad guy.

This movie is a great comedic film, it's a lot of fun to watch and one of the best comedy films in a long time. Many of the funniest parts in this films were unexpected and that made them so much funnier, such as a part where Will Ferrell was telling Hutch to act like a dragon and arch his back. I would like to add more of the funniest parts from this movie, but I will let you see for yourself just how hilarious this movie is. If you want to laugh then go see this movie.

Anthony gave The Count of Monte Cristo a thumbs up...

The Count of Monte Cristo is a story about a well thought out revenge by a character who lost everything through betrayal and misfortune. Jim Caviezel plays the poor but happy Edmond Dantes, a sailor on a ship. His best friend Mondego, played by Guy Pearce, betrays him so that he can steal the woman he loves and be as happy as Dantes. Mondego's character feels that it's not right to want to be Dantes because Mondego is rich, the son of a count and Dantes is just a lowly sailor.

The day that Dantes gets promoted to Captain of the ship that he was formerly a sailor on things begin to get weird. He has a letter from Napoleon that he unknowingly is supposed to give to a spy for Napoleon. There are three characters mainly involved with the backstabbing and destruction of Dantes' life, after being betrayed by those three Dantes is thrown into prison. A particularly horrible prison known as the Chateau d'If, while imprisoned at the Chateau Dantes gets a lashing annually from his first day there. Dantes meets another inmate who teaches him how to think, fight, and helps him discover exactly what happened to him in his past. Dantes discovers who betrays him and starts thinking up ways that he could get his revenge on those who sent him to the evil prison that became his home for more than 10 years. In prison Dantes discovers that the people who betrayed him were Mondego, his best friend, the head of justice, and the first mate of the ship that he worked on. When Dantes' friend dies he gives him a map that has the location of an extreme amount of treasure hidden on an island, he tells Dantes' to promise that he won't use the money for his revenge, but Dantes says that he can not promise that. After escaping from the prison Dantes swims to the nearest beach away from the Chateau d'If and meets a group of pirates who give him a chance to join. He saves one of the pirates from death and joins the pirates for three months. When he gets back to his home he leaves them, but on friendly terms. He gets his treasure, becomes rich, and starts going about his plan for revenge on all those who betrayed him. In the end there are a few twists to the storyline, but Dantes ends up being successful on his mission for revenge. In the closing scene of the movie Dantes is with his family and pirate friend on the Chateau d'If where all his luck and hope changed from as bad as possible to an extreme amount of hope, all due to his old prison friend The Priest.

The Count of Monte Cristo is a great movie for anyone willing to sit down and watch a movie for two hours more for the twists and turns that this movies presents. The acting in this movie also greatly adds to the fun of the movie, the fighting scenes are choreographed very well. Overall this is a fun movie for anyone who doesn't need action scene after action scene.

Anthony gave The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King a thumbs up...

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is the third and final installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This is the best of the three films by far, the main battle scene is long and looks fantastic. In this installment of the trilogy Aragorn, played by Viggo Mortensen, finally discovers who he is and decides to take up his rightful spot as the King. Gandalf, played by Ian McKellen, has a much larger part in this film then he had in part one or two of the Lord of the Rings. All the hobbits seem to have a much more important purpose now instead of just being there for comedic relief or the little people who always seem to be in need of help. Frodo, played by Elijah Wood, and Sam, played by Sean Astin, both show great acting in the final leg of their journey to destroy the evil ring. Gollum plays his normal mischevious, mildly scary, and comedic parts from the last film except he seems more angry in Return of the King then he did in the Two Towers. Arwen, played by Liv Tyler, is much more important to the storyline and finally makes her decision on whether she is going to leave or go and live with Aragorn.

At the beginning of the film it shows how Gollum became who he was, he killed another hobbit who found the ring and was banished by the other hobbits. He then lived in a cave with the ring, turning into the horrible and disgusting creature known as Gollum. Frodos uncle Bilbo found the ring because Gollum had dropped it. The film then switched to the war that was about to be waged on Gondor, the kingdom that Aragorn was supposed to be king of. The battle scene was very long and entertaining, everything looked wonderful. First the soldiers of Gondor had to fight in a little river city only a short distance away from Gondor known as Osgiliath. When they lost the battle for Osgiliath the orcs and giant elephants attacked Gondor. Right when the battle seemed to be lost Theoden, played by Bernard Hill, showed up with more than 10,000 soldiers on horses who saved the day for the people of Gondor. Then they ran into trouble when the elephants started to attack them and trample many of the soldiers. Aragorn showed up with an army of undead soldiers who slaughtered the enemy and ended up winning the battle for the humans, he then released the ghosts because he vowed that he would do so. Frodo and Sam have a lot of trouble when Gollum manages to make them fight with each other and splits their friendship. Frodo is stung by a giant spider known as Sheba and then Sam kills the spider. Orcs take Frodo and then Sam finds him and saves him from his evil captors. In the end Gollum accidentally saves everyone through his greed and evil. The ending to the movie is very long and tricks the viewers into thinking it's over a few times.

The Return of the King is a great movie to watch, the action scenes are long and great. Some of the best war scenes ever scene in a movie before, everything in the world looks fantastic almost as if it is all real. The costumes are great for everyone from the orcs to the clothes, armor, and weapons that people use. This movie is great fun to watch, but be ready to sit and watch it for over three hours. The only downside to this film is it's length and the fact that you have to have seen the previous movies in order to understand whats going on.

"Residence Evil does not have a lot of talking it is more action. You should be a fan of the game to better appreciate the movie. Jon. gave Tomb Raider a Thumbs Up...  Here's the review:
I have played the Tomb Raider games before, and I felt that the movie kept
the same feeling of excitement.  I think that the Tomb Raider movie was a fun movie to watch. Like many  action movies, Tomb Raider did  not have the most well thought up plot, but the movie was made to put more emphasis on the action. I thought that the ending was a little much, but it kept me entertained. I think they did a good job casting the movie. Since the Laura Croft character in the games is very computer generated and fake, it was probably tough to find an actress who could play the part believably. If you are asking whether I liked the movie, and whether I had fun watching it, than yes, I did, but if you are asking whether I think it will be a classic, I don’t think so. It was an exciting movie, but robots and time altering relics don’t make for a movie classic. I think that it was a well made movie geared towards young people. It was not meant to be one of those movies you spend the whole night discussing. It was your average action movie, plus Angelina Jolie. I think that it was a good movie and it did what they wanted it to do. I had a good time watching it, and I guess that’s what counts.
